Moon The Cancer phase of the cycle is about connecting us to the roots of who we are, where we come from and what nurtures, nourishes and supports us. This is the time of the Summer Solstice, one of the two major turning points in the solar calendar. This is when the Sun reaches its zenith in the yearly cycle and moves tentatively, crab-like across the sky before beginning its descent. In ages past, the Summer Solstice was the time when the Sun God began his journey of descent into the underworld. So this is a period of care and precaution. It could be thought of as a pregant pause - trees pregnant with the summer fruits, which are maturing on the branch; plants and trees drawing deep for water and sustenance.

According to the Orphic and various other esoteric traditions, the sign Cancer represents the gateway through which the Soul incarnates into physical form. During this weekend, we will begin to penetrate the mystery of where we each have come from and what brought us here. It is one of the most sublimely beautiful and profound workshops of the Alchemical Journey series, one that invariably connects people with deep psychic insights and realisations. It often brings catharsis and a deep acceptance both of the way things are now, and of the way things had to be in order to brings us to the point where we are in our lives today. It is one thing to understand this conceptually, of course, but it is quite another to experience it directly - and that is precisely what we will be doing during the Cancerian weekend.

During our Cancerian weekend, we will be experiencing the alchemy of the Moon, Cancer and the water element through image, music, story, play, walking in nature, meditation and guided imagery. On the Sunday, we will embody our enquiry even further by entering the sacred landscape of the Glastonbury Zodiac, and take a profound ritual journey - this time walking in the Cancer figure of the Glastonbury Zodiac, ably guided by the inspirational Anthony Thorley.
