Kairos Education May 2008 Gemini Gemini is the first air sign on our 12 -fold alchemical carousel, and it takes us into the mystery of the air element. In Gemini our focus turns to breath, thought and speech - the ongoing communicative exchange we enjoy with our environment, with our fellow human and non-human beings, with that which is both visible and invisible to our normal everyday perception. In Gemini, we invite the spirit of Hermes Mercurius, the divine messenger to penetrate our awareness and guide us in the ways of magic, enchantment and the realisation that every breath we take, every thought we conceive and every word that we utter carries with a creative potency that shapes our experience of reality. I am reminded of these wonderful lines from David Abram :

"Nothing is more common to the diverse indigenous cultures of the earth than a recognition of the air, the wind, and the breath, as aspects of a singularly sacred power...the sense that spoken words are structured breath...that spoken phrases take their communicative power from this invisible medium that moves between us. ... we should not be surprised that many indigenous peoples construe awareness, or "mind", not as a power that resides inside their heads, but rather as a quality they themselves are inside of." (David Abram, Spell of the Sensuous, pp. 226-7)

So Gemini is a sign of trade and exchange, communication and transformation. In this phase of the journey we are confronting the possibility that our resources, assets, skills may only really reveal their value in the process of being shared and exchanged. This phase of the year manifests through the cross-pollination of ideas, skills and resources. And even more profoundly, it teaches us how we can clear the airwaves, reduce the mental chatter, so that we might become a clearer channel for divine inspiration to speak through us.

During our Gemini weekend, we will be experiencing the alchemy of Mercury, Gemini and the air element through image, music, story, play, meditation, and a powerful process to open up a channel of communication with our personal daimon / spirit guide. On the Sunday, we will embody our enquiry even further by entering the sacred landscape of the Glastonbury Zodiac, and take a profound ritual journey into the Gemini figure - one of the most remarkable in the wheel.

On the Sunday, we will be taking another ritual journey into the landscape, this time walking in the Gemini figure of the Glastonbury Zodiac, ably guided by the inspirational Anthony Thorley.
